The fact that you can use it as an axe might not come as a surprise. The name Tomahawk kind of already gave that away. The edge is not really sharp, but will be perfect for the more demanding chopping jobs. You can, of course, easily sharpen it. But more interesting are its capacities as a forced entry tool. A type of key for professionals who don’t have time to look for their keys. The end of the handle has been enhanced with a pry bar. Designed to be put in between doorframes to open doors. The shape of the handle in the axe head gives you additional grip when you are using the pry bar. On the back of the axe head you will find a hammer and underneath the cutting edge the axe has a bevelled edge. This edge hasn’t been sharpened so you can decide yourself if you want to use this function by sharpening it yourself. In terms of steel Gerber has decided to go with 420HC stainless steel. Hard enough for any task, tough enough to not break. To prevent reflections the steel has been enhanced with a Cerakote coating. The G10 handles will give you the perfect grip regardless of the circumstances. Because the Gerber Downrange Tomahawk doesn’t exactly fit inside your pocket it comes with a MOLLE compatible sheath.
